As a result, their charges weaken. Plus, when they do, they can cause engine misfires and shutdowns. Broken spark plugs, though, usually mean severe engine cylinder damage. Luckily, those made by your brand get built to last, for as many as 100,000 miles. That's millions of ignitions.
